Tracks from a source

• Tapping the artist on the player works for a track from a source like Deezer. It opened a page that said “Couldn’t load artist. Check your connection.”, because it asked your server about an artist your server has never seen. It now finds the artist where it actually lives
• The sheet for a track from a source has Go to album and Go to artist, which only tracks from your library used to have

Headphones

• Switching from one pair of headphones to another no longer pauses the music. Any lost output used to pause playback, whatever replaced it. Now it pauses only when the sound would otherwise come out of the speaker

Player

• Dragging the seek bar seeks. The player’s drag-to-close gesture took over a few points into a drag, so only a tap on the bar ever moved the song
• The equalizer has an on/off switch that keeps your curve while it is off, and a Custom chip that remembers your last curve that is not a preset

Offline and unreachable servers

• Downloaded playlists play offline. With your server out of reach a playlist opened empty, even though every song in it was on your phone
• The “can’t reach your server” banner shows on album, artist and playlist pages. It was drawn behind the page, so the page covered it

Your library

• Songs added to an album show up on it. An album you had opened before kept its old track list for good, even though search could find the new songs. Album pages now refresh when you open them
• A download banner on Home clears when the downloads finish. It counted finished downloads that Downtify still listed, so it never went away
• Nextcloud Music sign-in works on servers that refuse Yuzic’s usual way of signing in

Version 2.17.0

Buttons that work both ways

• A headphone or car button unpauses again. Pressing an AirPod stem paused the music and then did nothing at all — every press after it was read as another pause. Yuzic was asking the system which state it was in, and the system is not obliged to answer that question truthfully; it now goes by what it last said itself

Crossfade

• Album segues stay hard-cut. With crossfade on, a record mastered to run straight from one track into the next was faded through its own join — the overlap doubled, and the seam it was covering sounded worse than it does bare. Turning “Fade through segues” off has always promised this and never delivered it
• A crossfaded track now counts as fully listened to. The fade-out is time you can still hear the song, and it was not being counted — so tracks at the boundary quietly fell short of the threshold and were never scrobbled. Measured at four seconds lost on an eight-second crossfade

Settings that only offer what your server can do

• Loudness normalisation appears where your server measures loudness. It was offered to everyone while only Navidrome reports the figure it needs, so on Jellyfin, Emby, Plex and local files the switch corrected against nothing
• Streaming quality appears where the stream obeys it. Plex plays the file it is pointed at and takes no quality request, and a local file has nothing to transcode — so on both, setting cellular quality to Low still pulled the original

Your library

• Jellyfin and Emby: an artist’s top songs, ranked by what you have played. The section was built for it and only ever appeared on Subsonic servers
• Playlists are found when search asks your server. Switching Search from this device to your server quietly dropped them on every server
• Album release dates on Jellyfin and Emby, which were never actually requested — so discographies sorted by a date that was always missing
• A song’s BPM and its path on the server, in its info sheet

Your wallpaper stays yours

• A background image is no longer painted over on album and artist pages. The artist header drew a blurred photograph across the top of the screen, and album pages washed it in the cover’s colour — two backdrops competing, and the one you chose lost. Both step aside now. The artist is still named by the round photo, the album by its cover
• The artist header also stops holding room for art it no longer draws, so four tracks sit above the fold where one did

When something can’t be reached

• Home says when it can’t reach your server, not just when you have no connection. Every discovery shelf is a request, so they would all quietly disappear — and the one case worth announcing was the one it stayed silent for
• Radio says when your server doesn’t offer it. It used to report “Couldn’t load. Check your connection.” and offer a Try again that could never work
• A shelf that fails to load says so instead of vanishing, and says it in your language — four of them had their error and empty text written in English only
• A shelf no longer claims to be empty while it is still loading
• Shared links can be pulled to refresh, which podcasts and radio already could

Playback

• Opus, where your server offers it. Navidrome ships an Opus profile and downsamples to Opus by default; Yuzic asked for MP3 regardless, so the bitrate you picked bought less than it could have. It is held to what your device can decode, so iOS — which has no Opus decoder — still gets MP3

Appearance

• Text size and spacing are separated, into Text and Layout. They answer different questions, and the combination that makes them look like one setting — large text with tight rows — is exactly the one that has to stay reachable

Save a look you like

• Appearance profiles. Yuzic had one look, edited in place, so trying something meant losing what you already had. Keep as many as you like now, and switch between them from the top of Appearance
• The Yuzic look is always there and is never edited. Changing anything while it is selected makes a copy and moves you onto that, so nothing you set is a one-way door
• A new profile starts as a copy of the one you are wearing, rather than from the stock look
• Upgrading keeps the look you had, as a profile of its own, already selected

Background photos

• Choose which part of a photo shows. Drag it into place and zoom in. A photo that was not the shape of your screen was cropped to its middle, with no way to say which part mattered
• A preview shows the real thing — your blur and your dim, on a frame shaped like your screen. The Background page never showed what any of its settings did, which made picking one feel like nothing had happened
• Where the background reaches is now “Home, Search and Library” or “Every screen”. “Home only” is gone: one tab wearing the photo while its two neighbours did not made the app look half-finished

Fixes

• Bottom sheets were see-through in light mode when you had a background image. Their rows drew straight onto the screen behind, on top of whatever was already there. Dark mode was never affected, which is why it lasted
• Two buttons had labels that vanished over a background image, and reordering your sources lost the highlight on the row you were dragging — the same cause as the sheets
• The artist header fades into your wallpaper instead of stopping on a hard line across the screen
• An artist’s round photo is a whole circle again. It was drawn with a flat bottom on every artist, wallpaper or not

Search

• Searching and browsing are two states now, and they hold still. Putting the keyboard away used to swap the screen out from under you — your recent searches would vanish and the browse grid would take their place. Tap the field to search, Cancel to go back, and nothing moves in between
• Scrolling your results no longer did the same thing for the same reason. It doesn’t now
• Your search filters are remembered. They reset to “Library, everything” every time you left the tab, without saying so

Genres and moods

• Opening a genre gives you the same screen wherever you opened it from. There were two, and the one behind Library was the older of them
• It is shaped like the rest of your library now, with full-width Play and Shuffle, and shows nine albums where it used to show three. The artwork at the top was never the genre’s — it was whichever album happened to sort first, blurred
• Moods work the same way as genres, rather than being a list with nothing to do

Everywhere else

• A background image shows behind every screen, not just the three tabs. Setting one and then opening an album used to drop you back onto a plain colour
• Downloading an album closes the sheet, instead of leaving it open behind the one that replaced it
• A library with no genre tags says so, rather than showing an empty screen

How the app looks is yours to set

• Text size changes the app as soon as you pick it. It used to wait for the next time Yuzic started, which made the setting look broken
• The icons beside the text grow with it, so a row still reads as one line rather than big words next to small arrows
• The tab bar and the playing bar keep their size on purpose: they are a fixed strip the rest of the app is measured against

Spacing reaches the rest of the app

• Your spacing choice now applies to the play queue, which drew its rows at a fixed size whatever you picked
• And to Quick picks on Home, and to your Library’s own rows — half that screen moved with the setting and half did not
• Lists no longer resize as they finish loading. The placeholders shown while a list loads were a fixed size, so the list jumped the moment the music arrived

Corners

• The playing bar’s artwork follows your corner style, and so does the artwork at the top of every options sheet

Artwork

• An album with no artwork gets its own colour and initials instead of the same grey icon on every one. Live recordings and bootlegs stop looking like one repeated tile. Nothing to set up, and an album keeps the same colour every time

In the car

• Opening Yuzic from CarPlay with your phone app closed works. 2.11.0 said it fixed this, and the fix was genuinely written, but it was missing from the build that shipped — so nobody ever got it. It is really in this one

Reordering

• Dragging Home shelves into the order you want, under Settings › Discovery › Home, works again. The handle moved the row but the new order was measured from the wrong place
• Dragging is smoother in playlists, the play queue and settings

Large libraries

• A library of 90,000 songs no longer crashes the app, whether it is syncing for the first time or opening with the library already on the phone
• Opening the app reads your library from the phone instead of downloading it all again
• Opening Tracks on a large library takes about half a second, down from over three. Every name went through a slow text comparison about 1.5 million times; each is now prepared once
• Much less memory and storage. At 90,000 songs the saved library drops from 512 MB to 128 MB, and the app uses about 50 MB less while it runs

Playback

• A song that will not play is tried once more, then skipped. It used to be retried forever with the processor running flat out, and pausing did not stop it
• After three songs in a row fail, playback stops and keeps your queue, instead of dropping each one while Autoplay kept adding more
• On Android, a song that got a login or error page instead of audio, from hotel Wi-Fi or a broken proxy, plays again once the connection is fixed. The page had been saved as the song and was replayed every time

• Scanning a large Jellyfin library no longer crashes the app. The library was asked for in one request, and past about 50,000 tracks that single response was big enough to run the app out of memory before it could draw anything

• Android reaches a server behind a certificate authority of your own. Android ignores a root you installed yourself unless an app asks it not to, so Caddy’s tls internal worked everywhere except here
• The app says when a certificate was refused, instead of reporting it as an address it could not reach
• A fallback URL is tried when the first address stops answering. One that timed out used to end the attempt, so a Tailscale address was never reached from outside your network

Getting music

• Downtify can be connected as a downloader, alongside Lidarr, slskd and SoulSync
• MusicBrainz can point at a mirror you run yourself

Elsewhere

• Tracks in Your Mix play when you tap them. Only the shuffle button worked
• The last track on the mix screen is no longer hidden behind the playing bar

The library fetching system was reworked to be cleaner and to work with Jellyfin. Images now request a defined quality, and caching keeps data from going stale.
